Go Slow to Go Fast

Earlier this month, I shared my plans for Deep Work December—a time of year when I step back from the day-to-day whirlwind of operating the business and immerse myself in creative work. My goal was ambitious: design a print every single day. But as the month unfolded, I realized that the true value of this process wasn’t in crossing off a daily checklist.

It was about time.

Time to explore, refine, and let the creative process breathe.

At first, I was focused on output—finishing a print every day. But the more I worked, the more I noticed a shift. The deeper I dove into a print, the better it became. Instead of racing to the finish line, I started to sink into the process. Any time I grew impatient, I stepped away and picked back up later, even if that meant returning to the print the following day. Each stroke, each color adjustment, and each detail felt more intentional. In doing so, I wasn’t just creating patterns; I was crafting stories. With each print, I thought about the women who might wear it. Where might she go in this piece? How would it make her feel? I imagined her stepping into her day—confident and bold—carrying a bit of the spirit I tried to weave into every line and hue.

This slower, more intentional approach has been transformative. It’s taught me that creativity isn’t about speed; it’s about depth. And I’ve been learning a similar lesson in entrepreneurship: focusing deeply on the single most important problem moves the needle much further than spreading my attention thin. Depth, not breadth, is where the magic happens. While the process can feel slower, in the long run, it creates meaningful, lasting results.

As Deep Work December comes to a close, I’m excited to share the fruits of this month’s labor. Soon, I’ll be asking you to weigh in—voting on the prints you’d love to see come to life in the new year. Your feedback has always been at the heart of this brand, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
