Who's it for?

When you write in your journal, cook a meal, start a business, post on social—who are you doing it for? Becoming clear on who it’s for, and also who it’s not for, helps keep your focus where it matters.

Often, our dissatisfaction comes from the feedback (or lack thereof) from people for whom it’s not for. And yet, these are often the opinions that keep us from starting.

When we have a world of opinions at our fingertips, it’s tempting to look for validation everywhere. But seeking validation from everyone is a disappointing attempt at soothing insecurity. On the other hand, paying attention to the people we intend to create for is an act of service—we’re curious about how we can make things better for that specific group of people.
