I love when December rolls around each year. After the whirlwind of Black Friday and shipping out over a thousand orders (thank you!!), I finally get to slow down, reflect, and dream about the future of Mixed. This year, I’m calling it Deep Work December because I’m devoting 12 hours/day, 7 days a week, to what matters most in the business—something that often takes a backseat during busier months: design.
Every day this month, I’m creating a new print. I’ve been spending 10+ hours straight drawing, recoloring, and experimenting with ideas. It’s intense but so rewarding—something I’ve never done at this scale before. This daily practice builds momentum (which is something I’m thinking a lot about these days—a topic for a future newsletter). Some days I have to push through messy, uninspired work before the good ideas start to flow. I’m learning to embrace the process and count my reps as a win, not the results.
Of course, not every day produces my favorite print, but the body of work I’ve created so far makes me proud. December has become my creative sanctuary—a rare time of year when I can carve out the unstructured hours that creative work demands.
I’m already feeling energized and excited about what’s ahead for our 2025 collections. I can’t wait to share them with you next year, but for now, here’s a peek at some of the prints I’ve been working on:
